Roni’s dreams of becoming a contemporary dancer were smashed under the brutal rage of her ex-husband's fists. Getting divorced and starting over at the age of twenty-two was never her plan, but maybe in Texas, she'll find her path. When the town's local player, Rich, opens a Rec Center, she sees a way to rekindle her dancing dreams...and maybe have a little fun with her sexy new boss.Rick is such a fun guy, he's always been a bit of a player, but in the end he definitely goes for it. When he met Roni and she turned him down, he wasn't planning on giving up that easily. It's not just the challenge she presents, he really truly is interested in her.
Rich never expected to fulfill his dreams in the town he planned to leave behind, but that's just what he's doing. His reputation as a noncommittal ladies' man might make it challenging to earn respect in the business world, but he's willing to prove that he's serious. In fact, when it comes to pursuing Roni, he's more than willing. But she's taking a page out of his book, not wanting to risk another relationship. Can he convince her that his playboy days are over and that she can trust him with her heart?
Roni has been hurt very badly in the past, which isn't that easy to let go of. She's afraid of history repeating itself, but when you have this gorgeous guy pursuing you it's hard not to let go. How long will it be before she caves in?
What surprised me the most about Lopez' Friends & Lovers serie, is how short the stories are. Trust In Me is only 155 pages long. So the pace of the story is quite fast, even a bit rushed. I feel if the story was 100 pages longer, it could have been more interesting. Using those pages to add more depth to the story, further develop the characters and add some complexity.
Even through Roni and Rick both have been through some hard times, it doesn't really feel like a roadblock. Everything suddenly goes too well. Like always the attraction is obvious and it's just a matter of time until something is going to happen.
Friends & Lovers serie is an enjoyable read if you don't have much time. I recommend reading them straight after one another. All the characters keep re-appearing in the three books. So it's easy to keep up. There is not that much drama, but lots of happy endings
