Setup: Isabel's behavior since going back to work—with the professor—has become increasingly strange. The behavior hasn't gone unnoticed by Romero who's trying his damndest to not jump to conclusions.

Isabel had just finished pouring herself a cup of tea when Romero rushed into the kitchen.

“I gotta go,” he informed her. “Your car’s in the way. Where are your keys?”

Isabel turned just in time to see him heading for her purse on the counter. Without thinking, she practically lunged toward it and grabbed it before he could. He froze on the spot and stared at her until she looked down at her purse, feeling like an idiot. Without asking, she already knew what he was thinking.

“What’s that about?” he asked, glaring down at her purse as she fished her keys out.

“I gotta go too,” she said. “So no need to move my car. I was just leaving.”

He was still peering at her with that telling heat in his eyes, and he tilted his head. “Anything we need to talk about?”

“Nope,” she said trying to sound playful, but he still wasn’t smiling.

In fact, his glare had gone harder. “You hiding something from me, Isabel?”

“Yes,” she admitted, trying to smile genuinely, especially after hearing him call her Isabel. She leaned in and kissed him. “Christmas is just around the corner, baby. There are things hidden all over, including my purse.”

They stood there facing off for a moment more before he leaned in and kissed her back since he hadn’t so much as puckered up the first time. “I’ll be glad when I find out what this surprise of yours is because it’s making you jumpy as shit.”

Review: When You Were Mine (The Moreno Brothers) by Elizabeth Reyes

That is until the incredible highs no longer numb the sting of the intense lows.

As tasteless and slippery as pride can be, for Alex it's always been the hardest pill to swallow.

Faced with a final ultimatum, the choice is a no-brainer for Alex. Despite his insanely busy life he's determined to prove to Valerie, that not only is he ready to commit, it's what he's always wanted—to claim Valerie as his exclusively.

But just as it kept him from admitting his real feelings all those years, will his obstinate pride once again step in and ruin things just when they're finally getting it right?

It's a novella so I'll try to keep my review short-ish. When You Were Mine is a prequel to Always Been Mine and it definitely ends with a major cliffhanger. So you will want to get these two at the same time and plan enough time to read them immediately after each other.

Honestly this novella feels more like it was written for the fans. As in to me it didn't feel absolutely necessary for Alex and Valerie's story, but as a fan of the series I enjoyed it immensely. In Always Been Mine we get a summary of what happened during college and now with When You Were Mine we get to read about it in detail.

While it was interesting and gave me more insight in Alex's reasons of his behaviour, I still think he's an idiot. Pride can be an ugly thing and it's clear Alex has a lot of it. It's pretty much that pride that makes him screw up time after time. There are other factors that influenced it all and I was surprised how much pressure he was constantly on, a lot of people were relying on him. At times I even felt like his family was taking advantage of him, of course Alex would never say anything about it, so it's kind of double edged.

Though it's not all Alex's fault, he and Valerie just weren't great at communicating, as in they were afraid that verbally announcing they wanted more would scare the other person away. They really are a lot alike, which on the one hand makes them very compatible and on the other hand is the reason why the clash so often. Their relationship consists of nothing but highs and lows and it did take me a bit by surprise how extreme this really was. It definitely helped me better understand Valerie's decision.

Both of them still need to do a lot of growing, before this could ever really work between them. I always believed in them and when you read Always Been Mine, I know you will get it too.

On instinct Alex put his hand on the door in case she even thought of trying to slam the door on his face. That wasn't happening now. And any hope of this night ending amicably like he'd been optimistic about was instantly squashed. He turned to Valerie whose earlier incensed eyes looked a little panicked now. "Who the fuck is that?"

Review: Forever Yours (The Moreno Brothers #1.5) by Elizabeth Reyes

Angel Moreno and Sarah Fiero fell in love in Forever Mine, but for a couple of high school sweethearts, forever is a really long time...

Catch up with them and the whole gang in college as past insecurities resurface. As if dealing with her best friend Sydney wasn't enough, Angel now has two more men to deal with in Sarah's life. There's no shortage of edge-of-your-seat, angsty drama, tears, and laughter as Angel and Sarah's love is put to the ultimate test in this addition to the Moreno Brother
series.

Review:
It has been over a year since I've read a Moreno book and it is good to be back. I nearly forgot how protective Angel is and how crazy Romeo acts. It really feels like a family reunion, reading Forever Yours. The main focus is of course Angel and Sarah, but the gang is all here and I'm loving it!

Angel and Sarah are now in college and life is pretty good for them. They are still happily in love and all is going very well between them. Though that might change when Sydney comes to visit with some big news. I really nearly forgotten how much Angel disliked Sarah's relationship with Sydney, but he was there fast to remind me.

After discovering that Sydney broke up with his girlfriend and will be going to UCLA now, doesn't put Angel in the best of moods. So from the start there is a lot of tension. Now the news he brings is even worse. It seems that Sarah's mom has been lying to her and that her dad is now trying to get in touch with her and it seems that Sarah has a half brother.

Kind of an overload for this girl and she does not know how to handle it all. On the one hand she is really curious about her dad and mostly her brother, on the other hand she is afraid it will turn out into nothing and leaving her rejected again. Still she decides to take a chance and contacts them through mail.

By now you know how Angel works and you know he isn't happy with the situation at all. He wants to support Sarah, though he has his reservations on the whole ordeal. Certainly when her 'brother' sends half naked pictures of himself to Sarah and calls her beautiful. I agree with Angel that immediately you feel like something fishy is going on, but you don't know what it just is.

Sarah is pretty oblivious about it all and is just happy she now has a brother, new family. Which is all she has ever wanted. Often she was envious of Sophie of having brothers looking out for her and the bond between siblings. Now she has a chance to experience it herself. Still talking for hours through Skype with her brother might seem a bit overboard and when things aren't what they seems, she might be in too deep.

So we have Angel and his brothers kind of feeling weirded out about the whole ordeal. Me as well, you keep having that feeling of something is just not right. Still Angel doesn't know what to do about it since the guy hasn't done anything really wrong yet. Meanwhile Sarah is almost jumping heads in the whole sibling bonding. Thus creating tension between her and Angel. When there are other situations in which they are not near each other and some things happen, their trust in each other will be tested!

Forever Yours is another great read in the Moreno series. It was wonderful catching up with everyone again. Angel is still that overprotective, alpha male, doom thinker, but you know it is all about the love he has for Sarah. And Sarah is still that sweet, bit naive, cup half full kind of girl. Lots of drama and tension in this one, though the making up scenes are smoking and make it all worth it! And that epilogue will blow you away, it was one of my favourite moments in the entire book. It's just so sweet and shows you once again how amazing all these characters are and why we love them so much.

I need to fight the urge now to start rereading the entire series (if I had more time I so would) :D
