Tour Review & Giveaway: Knowing Jack by Rachel Curtis

*I received a copy from the author in exchange for an honest review*
I am not a slut, although I’ve been called one often enough. Yeah, I spent three months screwing one of my college professors, but I was crazy about the guy. Then he broke up with me.

I am not a bitch, although people like to say I am. I kept our relationship secret. I’m not responsible for telling the university administrators about it, but a lot of students still blame me for getting their favorite professor fired.

I am not a drama queen, although everyone thinks I am now. When I got a few nasty messages, I just deleted them. When I got the threat, I assumed it was someone being stupid. I still think that’s all it was. My parents worry, though, so they hired me a bodyguard. Now Jack follows me around, intimidating everyone who approaches me and looking obnoxiously hot.

This is what I am. I’m Chloe. I’m a twenty-year-old art history major. Kind of shy, although I pretend not to be. Stubborn enough to stay here for my senior year, even though everyone hates me.

And I’m stuck with Jack.

He calls me “Princess,” but I’m not a princess either.

Review:
So Chloe slept with one of her professors, someone found out and they reported them. The professor got fired and now it seems everyone on campus hates her. Even worse she's been getting threats by an unknown. Her parents are afraid for her safety and they hire a bodyguard to follow her around. That bodyguard is Jack.

Now from the beginning it is obvious there is some attraction between them. While Chloe wouldn't mind exploring that attraction, Jack holds back because he is afraid to lose control. His whole life has been about being in control, so letting go isn't really in his vocabulary. Still it's more a matter of time when something does happen between these two, though the consequences might not be so great for either of them.

I liked the story and the characters, though I wasn't wowed. There were a couple of questions left unanswered and I would have liked to see some more details in general. While Jack is protecting Chloe I didn't get the idea that anyone (cops?) was looking for the person behind the harassment. Which I found a bit strange. Considering you wouldn't want someone trailing your every move until you graduate. Also I didn't understand why so many people were mad at Chloe, when it's also the responsibility of the professor.

Chloe really was a spoiled princess. She always got what she wanted, still it's more that she was being what everyone else wanted her to be. Her life has been all about meeting other people's expectations. Now she is confronted with someone who wants her to let go of that image and just be her. It turns out that it is not that easy. Sometimes she did came over too placid, lacking some backbone, still she blossomed really well towards the ending.

Now Jack is an entire other story. Since the age of five has he been trained to join his father security company. He's hot, smart, funny and calm at all time. Something has happened in one of his previous jobs, which you don't get too much detail on, and ever since he has the need to be in control, to keep his distance. When meeting Chloe that control is put to the test and he's afraid that if he lets go he can never return. A bit of a drama queen on that part. I did feel an undertone of unhappiness from him in the job he was doing, which made me wonder why he is in the security business.

The plot is a bit predictable, but the bodyguard element made it more original. That ending though, it seems there will be a second book, which I don't feel is necessary. Overall the book is pretty short and therefore that connection between Jack and Chloe feels a bit rushed. I would liked to have seen more building up moments between them, to make it more believable. The smexy scenes between them though were smoking hot.

For a quick and hot New Adult story, this might just be the book for you.
