Review & Giveaway: Fixed on You (Fixed #1) by Laurelin Paige

Stalking and restraining orders are a thing of Alayna Wither’s past. With her MBA newly in hand, she has her future figured out—move up at the nightclub she works at and stay away from any guy who might trigger her obsessive love disorder. A perfect plan.

But what Alayna didn’t figure on is Hudson Pierce, the new owner of the nightclub. He’s smart, rich, and gorgeous—the kind of guy Alayna knows to stay away from if she wants to keep her past tendencies in check. Except, Hudson’s fixed his sights on her. He wants her in his bed and makes no secret of it.

Avoiding him isn’t an option after he offers a business proposition she can’t turn down and she’s drawn further into his universe, unable to resist his gravitational pull. When she learns Hudson has a dark history of his own, she realizes too late that she’s fallen for the worst man she could possibly get involved with. Or maybe their less than ideal pasts give them an opportunity to heal each other and finally find the love their lives have been missing.

Alayna's life has been good for the past couple of years. She has some issues, but they are pretty in control, until Hudson walks into her life. Sexy, sizzling, smart and a dominant streak are just the things Alayna has been trying to avoid in a man. To be able to deal with her issues, she prefers safer man. The kind that won't bring out her stalking tendencies. When Alayna falls for a guy, she kind of goes overboard and the word brake disappears from her vocabulary.

So she know she should stay away from him, but when he comes running after her, that makes it difficult. Hudson is looking for someone to play his pretend girlfriend, to get his mother of his back. He thinks Alayna is the perfect candidate and in return he will pay of her student loans. Alayna knows she shouldn't do it, but being out of debt would really help and well denying the attraction is pretty futile.

Their relationship escalates pretty quickly and there are plenty of steamy scenes. No instant love for these two, though definitely instant lust. The way they go at each other, will make you blush. Those scenes were so much fun to read.

Even though the setup isn't the most original with a rich guy, a poor girl and some form of arrangement, the characters is what made it so different from others. They both have some issues, not your run of the mill kind of issues, I mean really big, able to destroy themselves and those around them. It's nothing criminal or that, more psychological. Like I said, Alayna has her stalking tendencies and Hudson, well I let you figure that one yourself.

Despite this fact, they work really well together or maybe it's rather because they both know how it feels to deal with those issues that this works. It helps them understand each other better, in a way that an outsider never could.

It's definitely more interesting when the characters are flawed and I actually enjoyed that they both have some issues to overcome. Since everything is told from Alayna's POV, we don't really get to see inside Hudson's head. So it's more looking from the outside in, when it comes to dealing with his struggles. Throughout the story they make some progress, but things aren't over yet.

The book doesn't end with a major cliffhanger, it's more of an open ending. Though I will be reading the other books in this series, I want to know what else happens to them. There are still some unanswered questions, that I can not wait to find out about.

Overall an awesome story, with amazing characters, that will leave you wanting more.

NY Times & USA Today Bestselling author Laurelin Paige is a sucker for a good romance and gets giddy anytime there’s kissing, much to the embarrassment of her three daughters. Her husband doesn’t seem to complain, however.

When she isn’t reading or writing sexy stories, she’s probably singing, watching Mad Men and the Walking Dead, or dreaming of Adam Levine.
