Saturday Series: Just for Now (Sea Breeze #4) by Abbi Glines

Preston is one bad boy. And Amanda has harbored a crush on him for forever. When she finally makes her move on him, it does not end well. But still, she can’t resist him. Especially now that he seems to be pursuing her, too.

No one wants wants them to be together. Not Amanda’s brother Marcus, who is on the verge of his marriage to Low, and definitely not any of Preston’s buddies. They know way too much about Preston’s dark side. Even Preston realizes he’s not good enough for someone like her.

But Amanda believes there is more to Preston than his bad boy persona, and she is determined to unearth what he’s hiding behind his seductive blue eyes—secrets that could explain his actions. Secrets Amanda might not be able to forgive.

Yet the dangerous attraction persists...and neither Preston nor Amanda is going to deny it.

REVIEW

Amanda sure has grown up since Breathe. She is still very sweet and compassionate, but that naive innocence has flown through the window. When she was sixteen she started crushing on Preston, her brother's best friend and she has been trying to get his attention since then. Most of the time she fails, but the one time she succeeds, well let's call that moment explosive in a good and bad way. After that moments things simmer down a bit for her, but that does not mean she is giving up on him.

Everyone knows Preston is a player, but almost nobody realises just how bad it actually is and it was definitely not something I saw coming. His job is not exactly legal, but it fits easily is his baseball training schedule and earns him lots of money so he can pay the bills for his younger siblings. I very much liked the change Amanda brought out in him. Preston tries to stay away from her, he knows she deserves better, but it is hard when she keeps getting close to him.

Now I am not much a fan of people claiming they are not good enough for the other and that the other person deserves better. In this case it is a bit different. It's not that Preston has low self-confidence, anything but, it's rather the things that he does. I was convinced he could easily change that, encouraging him even to find another solution, but I think it was mostly fear and desperation that kept him doing the same stuff. So I applauded when Amanda found out and walked away. I was way more mad in her place, while she let it go pretty easily. Amanda will always have a special place in her heart for him, but if Preston does not wise up soon, he will lose her forever.

One thing I also really liked was the fact that we knew so little of Preston and this time we get a good look at his life. It immediately becomes clear how much he kept secret from even his closest friends. Pretty much nobody even knew he had siblings, let alone that he has been making sure they are taken care of. It certainly gives us insight in the reasons for most of his actions.

There is that forbidden love to make things more exciting and like always plenty of drama. Marcus is an amazing big brother, always so protective of everyone. Even he seemed to get it eventually how much Amanda and Preston care for each other. Also all the characters from the previous books make an appearance and that always adds some extra fun times.

The reason I'm giving it less stars than the other books in the series so far, is simply because I think the others were better. Amanda and Preston are pretty great though and you do need to read this book!
