Saturday Series: Lady Luck (Colorado Mountain #3) by Kristen Ashley

Is love in the cards?

Since birth, Lexie Berry has had nothing but bad luck. Orphaned at an early age, she had a rough childhood and a boyfriend who was murdered. Now the beautiful, stylish Lexie is determined to change her luck and her life. But first she's got to make good on a promise: to pick up Ty Walker from prison. One look at the gorgeous ex-convict and Lexie knows she's in trouble-and already thinking about taking a walk on the wild side . . .

For five years, Ty was imprisoned for a crime he didn't commit. Now he wants revenge on the people who framed him. Yet when the high-stakes poker player sees the leggy Lexie, he suddenly has other desires on his mind. Realizing that Ty is innocent, Lexie tries to stop his plan for vengeance and help him become a better man. But as Ty battles his inner demons, dirty cops and criminals plot to take him out. Can he and Lexie find a way to escape the past?

Well this definitely took a bit of a darker turn. While there was a killer in the previous book and the craziest of exes, the main characters themselves were good people and with a clear past. Now not so much as Lexie's ex was a pimp and she's now on an errand for a drug dealer picking up Ty from prison. He's been in jail for five years, for a murder he didn't commit. Can you smell the drama?

Now don't get me wrong, these two main characters are also clean, they are just more connected to bad stuff. Lexie always tried to pull her ex out of that life, but in the end she wasn't able to. Because of her ex, she's now unfortunately connected to some unfortunate characters that can bring down her life, so she does small innocent tasks to keep them off her back until she can escape. This includes picking up Ty, though she had no idea that the piece of hunkalicious wouldn't let her go that easily.

Ty, being in jail for five years, has had a lot of time to figure out a way to get revenge on the people who've put him there. With a single minded focus this might actually get him into more trouble. Meeting Lexie is a present send from heaven. She fits very nicely in his plans and in his arms. Together they start a journey to his home and to build a life together.

The better they get to know each other, the harder it gets for Lexie to keep her distance. She's afraid his need for revenge will destroy and devises her own plan to help him. Everyone knoww Ty didn't do the crime, so there are a lot of people willing to help him out. Ty hasn't been the only victim, though might have lost the most.

Lexie is awesome, it's as simple as that. She hasn't had the best of luck, still she stays so positive and is a total goof. Also she never really gives on hope that one day she will find her luck, so when things go well between her and Ty she believes in them. Lexie knows and fully realizes things haven't been easy for Ty at all and the injustice done to him, but she's here now and stands by his side no matter what. The girl is loyal, protective, sweet, smart, goofy and has some some serious sass. She couldn't be more perfect for Ty.

Ty is actually a good guy. The only reason he got framed was because he rubbed someone the wrong way and because he's half African America. Now I don't deal well with racism, so I was definitely very caught up in this injustice and therefor my hatred for some characters was very well grounded. It sickens me that in this day and age skin color can still be such a big issue. His search for vengeance isn't healthy, but I do believe he deserves justice. For five years though that has been his only thought, but when Lexie enters his life that focus slowly changes. He never thought life could get much better. When he's not all he-man and speaking in one syllable words, Ty is pretty sweet. He likes to spoil his girl and does those little things that will make you swoon.

So once again plenty of romance and sexy time, with even more mystery and political intrigue. Small town definitely doesn't mean small crimes. I love that combination of romance and suspense. Whenever I think I've figured out what is going to happen next, I really don't have a clue it seems. It's all so well thought out and intricately woven, it's simply brilliant.

The Author
Kristen Ashley was born in Gary, Indiana, USA. She nearly killed her mother and herself making it into the world, seeing as she had the umbilical cord wrapped around her neck (already attempting to accessorise and she hadn't taken her first breath!).

Kristen grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana but has lived in Denver, Colorado and the West Country of England. Thus she has been blessed to have friends and family around the globe. Her posse is loopy (to say the least) but loopy is good when you want to write.

Kristen was raised in a house with a large and multi-generational family. They lived on a very small farm in a small town in the heartland and existed amongst the strains of Glenn Miller, The Everly Brothers, REO Speedwagon and Whitesnake (and the wardrobes that matched).

Needless to say, growing up in a house full of music, clothes and love was a good way to grow up.

And as she keeps growing up, it keeps getting better.
