I admit I didn't choose this song for The Law Of Moses by Amy Harmon, one of the fans posted it on Facebook while putting together a playlist for the book. Also I can actually tell you something about this one without spoiling anything about the story.

Georgia lives on a ranch, her parents do equine therapy, and while she enjoys that they can help people, all she really wants is to be a barrel racer. To be free to live life the way she wants it to and among the horses. This is actually only partly why this song fits for this book. You can also see it is more as a general metaphor. How both Georgia and Moses want to be free from whatever is haunting them, daring to give into love as scary as that may be, and taking chances.

Gracefully Greyson by Amy Polonsky tells us the story of a young boy, who is a girl on the inside. It becomes more and more difficult to keep that part of him hidden and it makes him unhappy to keep it hidden. By taking one big chance everything starts to change for Grayson and therefor this song seemed very fitting. He's slowly spreading his wings and trying to find his place in this world.

I feel this song is a less obvious pick for The Book Of Ivy by Amy Engel. The marriage between Bischop and Ivy is arranged. Before their wedding day these two had never even spoken to each other and while they may not fully agree with the arrangement, it turns out not to be so bad. Bischop is actually a pretty great guy, who treats Ivy with respect and he genuinely wants to get to know her better. This is why this song reminded me of their story. While he might not have chosen her, Bischop sees Ivy for who she really is and he really wants to make things work between them.

Without giving away any spoilers, this song reminded me of Calla and Dare from Nocte by Courtney Cole. They are both a bit broken, but as long as they have each other, things might work out alright in the end.

I was reading Come Back To Texas by K.K. Hendin last week and the book mostly reminded me of going back home. It's been three years since Hayley and Nate saw each other. Now that he's back state side, he wants to reconnect by convincing her to come back to Texas. Or as I see it, come back to him. I very much believe that home isn't necessarily a place, but rather people. Therefor I found this song pretty fitting with their story.

Whenever I though of Rowdy (Jay Crownover) or tried to picture him in my mind, I always got a rockabilly feeling. While this may not necessarily be the music he listen to (no idea really), it does very much remind me of him. With Salem dressing like a fifties pinup, it just all seems to fit together.

The Slater Brother books are pretty explosive and well so are the characters. Keela for instance from Alec by L.A. Casey is normally quite a reasonable girl, but whenever she and Alec are in the same room all sanity flies out of the door. While it seems he brings out the worst in her, I mostly see it as a way of protecting herself for what will sure be a heartbreak. Therefor this song by Demi Lovato seemed pretty fitting and I also like the fact that while the subject of the song is kind of vulnerable, the song on its own is powerful.

This week was a pretty easy one. Mathew, from The Reason I Stay by Patty Maximini, is on the road with no clear destination in mind. He just knows he can't go home, so he plays a radio game. Whatever song plays next on the radio, that's the town he will travel to. This songs so happens to be Jolene by Dolly Parton. Next thing you know he's off to Jolene, Alabama and his life is about to change forever!

This song is mentioned in the Echoes Of Scotland by Samantha Young. Honestly I've been bumping into TATE a lot lately and I can definitely see the appeal of the band and mostly their music. Now for the connection with the book, I recommend not looking too deep into it as this song does not reflect on the relationship of Cole and Shannon, certainly not in the beginning.

They are both huge TATE fans and it's another way for them to connect, especially this song and more specific the lyrics "Arm your fears like soldiers and slay them." There are other lyrics, when I read and hear them, I think could apply to this couple, but sometimes you don't need to loop too deep into the meaning for to enjoy it.

I can not help it, but every time I think of Hawaii, it's not just the palmtrees and the blue ocean I think about, but also Lilo & Stitch. While most of that soundtrack contains Elvis songs, it also has a couple more tropical tunes, that just simply make me happy. So when I was reading Hidden by Selena Laurence this song would often go through my mind. It might not be the most appropriated song suited for the story, but they are freaking living in Hawaii, that alone should make you feel happy!

I didn't have to think too hard for this week's Music Monday. In Boarded By Love by Toni Aleo the main character is named Jude. While there may be no direct link between the character and the boy Paul McCartney sings about, the reference does get mentioned in the book, with the love interest always calling him "Hey Jude" instead of just "Jude." So it feels a bit like an inside joke really.

Jude in Boarded By Love is anything but sad, though some of the lyrics do fit. He's a bit of a player, but upon meeting Claire he calms down a lot. Letting her get under his skin might be the best thing that ever happened to him.

The Hit by Allen Zadoff was probably my most refreshing read last week. A teenage soldier, whose job it is to get in, blend in, do the job and get out. Never making friends, never making any real connections and living from the outside looking in. This all gives it a darker undertone and somehow I kept hearing the soundtrack of Queen Of The Damned in my head, the rock in perfect harmony with the action in this story. 

I honestly have no idea what these lyrics mean and they're open to a lot of different interpretations, I think. Still the rhythm, the words and the dual voice, somehow it all makes sense in my mind to fit this together.

It's because of Lady Gaga that Zac and Mia start talking and the beginning of their "friendship." Neither of them likes the music at all, but when Mia blasts it full on to get her mom to leave the room, it can be heard into the next room where Zac is staying. He can understand the need for loud music, when you find out you have cancer, he just wished it could be anything other than this.

I am so grateful for Linda Kage sending me a copy of her latest novel Be My Hero as I absolutely loved it. Pick was definitely my favourite character and while I can not tell the origin of his connection with this song by Christina Perri, you just need to know he's been waiting for Eva most of his life.

Pick has loved her for so long and now that she's right in front of him, he's going to do whatever it takes to make her his. It won't be an easy journey, but he's so secure in his love for her, that they are meant to be together. All very swoonworthy.

Colleen Hoover told in an interview that this song set the mood for her latest novel Ugly Love, "because it has all the feels."I could not agree more. She has written another amazing book about real life, real people and real emotions. To me these lyrics reminded me mostly of Miles and the double feelings he has towards relationships and love. Where Tate reminds him of the good parts, while he's still holding on to the ugly parts.

Especially that last line in the song "And you know that she'll break you in two." reminded me of the fact that by falling in love with someone gives them the power to break us, though you need to trust in that person not to.

So this week we're doing it a little bit different. I've received a teaser from Boarded By Love by Toni Aleo and they've asked to choose a song that I think fits with this. Now since it's a Toni Aleo book, it needs to be a song by Ed Sheeran. She's a bit of a crazy obsessed fan, but I can understand that. I saw him play live last friday and he's sublime. Therefore I've chosen the song Kiss Me by Ed Sheeran and I think the lyrics are pretty self-explanatory. 

Trouble indeed, but it didn’t matter. He’s pushing and pulling me straight to him, and I am sure he isn’t going to let me go. Not that I want to. There is something about him that has me completely and utterly drawn to him, no pulling needed. While I want to sleep with him, I also want to know him. Really, I have no clue what I want. I just want Jude. All of him and I’m glad he turned down my offer to go to bed. While I want it, I don’t think I would have gone through with it, but then with the way he’s looking at me, his hooded green eyes flaring with lust, I’m thinking that previous statement was a total lie.

I damn well want him more than my next breath.

So what song do you think fits with this teaser?

I've been obsessed with this song for weeks and after finishing Lead by Kylie Scott, I knew this was perfect for Lena. While weight isn't a big issue in the story, it does get mentioned a couple of times. Lena definitely isn't a size two, though isn't afraid to admit her love for pie and she also has a lot of confidence. She knows there are a lot of skinnier girls out there, but she's very accepting of who she is and the way she looks. Her booty is one of her best assets. That's one of the reason why she's such an awesome character and I can imagine this song being her anthem.

This song kept playing over and over again in my head while reading Before You by Amber Hart. I do realize the title and the chorus start the same and that's probably why, though it does fit together. Before Faith met Diego she didn't dare to be herself, she was constantly living up to the expectations of the people around her. Diego pushes her, making her stand up for herself, dares her to live life the way she wants to.

Toni Aleo is a major Ed Sheeran fan, so when she came across thing song, it was perfect for her latest novel the Whiskey Prince. It definitely fits into the whole Irish scene, but I like to take it a little deeper. Amberlyn likes to sing this song to herself, because her dad used to sing it a lot so it reminds her of her parents. Not just that, it's a comfort for her to hear that song. It might be a song about the end of a night at the pub, you could also see it in a bigger picture, the Parting Glass at the end of life. At least that is how I look at it and I love this acoustic/acapella version.
